Marco Marini presents Ossessioni. Ovvero sette temi per immagini alla cieca, a performance that ponders on the generative processes of blind drawing.
Ossessioni is a minimalist set where four performers and the artist-executor stand. Three performers tell the artist what to draw by rotation and the blindfolded artist, standing on a 14 sqm carpet made out of white sheets of paper, tries to complete the requested tasks in the time given by the fourth performer.

For several years, Marini has been pursuing an aesthetic research based on two main strands: drawing in visual deprivation, namely the technique of drawing blindfolded; drawing without visual control, namely the production and reproduction of images while being with the eyes wide open but without being able to see the actual drawing production.

In his research, these practices are not performed solely by the artists but often they involve the participation of the public or groups of people selected using experimental procedures.

To this day, the act of drawing without seeing what is being produced was used by Marini to research the reactions that third parties have when asked to perform an action that usually requires the use of vision, to study the strategies that human beings put into use when in unusual perceptive conditions.

In Marini's perspective, visual deprivation serves on one side as a method for the creation of unusual, out of the ordinary and strange images, on the other as a personal experience to challenge himself in both the production and the interpretation of the produced image.

His aim is not that of constructing a canon of beauty but rather providing tools that are inexpressive and ready, on a case-by-case basis, to be loaded with the public’s psychological projections.
