Caffè Scienza Human Brain Project: challenges and limits 25 February 2020 Via degli Ausoni 1 00185, Roma Curated by FormaScienza In collaboration with Numero Cromatico Speakers: Cristina Marchetti, neuroscientist Pier Stanislao Paolucci, physicist The Human Brain Project is an important European international scientific research project with a budget of almost 500 million euros given over the course of 10 years that sees the participation of 120 institutions. The main goal is to gain a better comprehension of the human brain and an initial reproduction of its cognitive capacities through a computer simulation. But why is it so important to study the brain? Will this great investment help us understand, for example, the links between consciousness and artificial intelligence? What are the fallbacks and the future implications of this new infrastructure on human health? Can the aim of the project “knowing for curing” be accomplished? Press Release

  • Sul Volto | numerocromatico

Sul Volto Solo show by Dionigi Mattia Gagliardi December 21 - 23, 2020 Via degli Ausoni 1, 00185, Roma Press Release This exhibition is part of the project GRAN FINALE curated by Numero Cromatico Sul Volto is an exhibition in which artist Dionigi Mattia Gagliardi shows some drawings from the series Atlante delle espressioni facciali and delivers a performance. Thus, Numero Cromatico’s space becomes a laboratory where Gagliardi presents parts of a project he has been working on since 2010. In the first room, five performers enact Partitura di emozioni (2020), provided by the artist. The performers try to execute the score of emotions, while the artist registers the similarities and differences in the execution of the task. The results are emotional tableau vivant , outcomes of the unique facial expressions of each performer. In the second room, drawings from the series Atlante delle espressioni facciali (2012) hang on the gallery walls. The face, its expressions and its projective possibilities are some of the artist’s topics of interest. Percezione culturale di sei volti from 2010, is an artwork/research project that explores to what extent facial characteristics influence perception. The face is a powerful projective stimulus, an important tool that serves to build relationships with others, something that goes beyond language. It communicates even without actual intentionality; it activates automatically in response to events; its expressions are inscribed in our genetic code. For these reasons, we recognise emotions such as fear, joy, surprise and anger in every face. Gagliardi’s research on facial expressions is part of a fundamental field of painting, namely portraiture. Yet, he approaches it from a different perspective - the study of expressions in order to trace their topographic basis. The face here becomes a map to investigate, deconstruct and to be used as a tool for the creation of new images. • Senza | numerocromatico

Senza Solo show by Marco Marini January 11 - 13, 2021 Via degli Ausoni 1, 00185, Roma Press Release Without expression, without intention - these are some of the explanatory statements that led to the exhibition Senza , solo show by Marco Marini. The show presents twenty large-scale drawings realised in visual deprivation. The drawings look like constellations of signs without a specific interpretative orientation - without an image orientation and without personal will. Senza presents the drawings resulting from the performance Ossessioni (2020). The exhibition is part of a research project undertaken by Marini 10 years ago in the field of non-expressive experimental practice. Marini develops new strategies that aim at avoiding representation by virtue of the mimesis of an internal, emotional and passionate reality of the subject that performs the action. Such research raises new questions on the intrinsic qualities relating to the action that is no longer tied to the mere representation of reality, but rather to life itself. This exhibition is part of the project GRAN FINALE curated by Numero Cromatico Senza, Gran Finale, Marco Marini, Roma, 2021 Senza, Gran Finale, Marco Marini, Roma, 2021 Senza, Gran Finale, Marco Marini, Roma, 2021 Senza, Gran Finale, Marco Marini, Roma, 2021 1/11
