  • MESSINSCÈNA | numerocromatico

Cosa è Messinscèna? Play Video Facebook Twitter Pinterest Tumblr Copy Link Link Copied Press Release Messinscèna (2019-2020) is a project by Numero Cromatico that aims at analysing the current artistic research projects through a format of one-shot exhibitions. Each event is dedicated to one artist. Only one artwork is exhibited over the course of five hours, from 7 pm to 12 am, in a dedicated space that remains unchanged for all the selected artists. Why Messinscèna ? The word has been taken from the theatrical lexicon: “messa in scena” literally “to stage” theories and research projects. The intention is to exhibit and open a dialogue between different types of research, while trying to understand their differences and similarities – if there are any. The project wants to create a place where lines of thought, similar or divergent, can meet, acknowledging them and studying their potential implications. Each artist was given the same exhibition space and decided a unique form of relationship between the public and the artwork. In each five-hour event, the artist created new curatorial patterns and rules for the fruition of the artwork. The public was asked to experience the event according to specific guidelines. • Attraverso le tue parole

Attraverso le tue parole Co_Atto, meta_fair #2 moving with_in the complex: independent curating in collaboration with Untitled Association Porta Garibaldi, Milano 30 March - 20 May 2022 Comunicato Stampa “Attraverso le tue parole” (2022) is a project by Numero Cromatico designed for co_atto’s project space in Milan. The installation is composed by eight artworks which will be for the first time on show at meta_fair #2. The artworks are hand-made tapestries characterised by a distinct tactile surface and a modular poem written by I.L.Y. (acronym for I Love You) - Numero Cromatico’s Artificial Intelligence trained to write love poems. The arrangement of the artworks is not fixed, rather it can be altered in many ways, producing numerous semantic possibilities. The poem can thus mutate with each and every installation, based on the different juxtaposition of the verses and the selection of the exhibited pieces. The materials, colours and the setting of the eight elements constitute an artificial landscape, with the aim of activating spectators’ multisensorial and introspective experience.

  • Epitaphs for the Human Artist | numerocromatico

Epitaphs for the Human Artist Re:Humanism 2 - Re:define the Boundaries MAXXI, Roma 5th - 30th May 2021 Press Release In classical culture, the epitaph was a commemorative speech performed by an orator in honour of war heroes. In modern poetry instead, it started to acquire the shape of a short text used as a sepulchral description. Thus, it became an actual literary form used not only by the loved ones of the departed but also by artists, intellectuals and poets to glorify what was done during the life of those who passed away. Numero Cromatico raises the question of the future of the human artist within a society in which technologies that simulate human brain activities are becoming increasingly sophisticated. Advancing the hypothesis that the human-artist can be replaced in the near future by the machine and that technological advancement will mark the end of the writer and the artist as we understand it today, Epitaphs for the Human Artist offers new key readings to the user, for the activation of a critical process of the present. Taking up the literary form of the epitaph, through a text generator (designed in collaboration with Professor Simone Rebora - Università degli Studi di Verona) based on Artificial Neural Networks, the intimate gesture of commemorating the deceased - intrinsic to the literary form of the epitaph - is here referred to a machine that, symbolically, dismisses the human artist from the world of the living, decreeing his end. The printing of the artist’s book is realized in collaboration with La Legatoria, Rome. [from the catalogue of the exhibition Re:Humanism 2 - Re:Define the Boundaries ].
